If you find such a "ball", do not kick him, because this is a wonderful, rare animal

Three-belted spherical armadillos are amazing squat little animals, whose habitats are considered to be the southeastern and central parts of America, southern Mexico, Chile, Argentina, as well as Uruguay. Like all other battleships, the body of these creatures is covered with a strong carapace, but this is the only species that can completely fold into a ball in case of danger. Three-belted armadillos choose mostly open spaces for life, however, they are not averse to settling in forests. Insects are their favorite delicacy, and a long, sticky tongue helps them get them. Lovely creatures by nature of their loners, which are most active at night.

The most amazing feature of the three-belted armadillo is his ability to fold into a round ball, for which he was nicknamed "sore" ("ball"). He rolls into a ball, like a hedgehog, and hides all his limbs under a shell, forming a solid impregnable armor. Even the largest predators are unlikely to expand a frightened animal.

In general, armadillos have been living on our planet since the time of the dinosaurs, however, in comparison with their ancient ancestors, glyptodonts, they were very crushed. Thus, the fossilized remains discovered by scientists tell us that the glyptodonts weighed up to 2 tons, and reached three meters in length.

Unfortunately, the sad fate of extinct ancestors threatens modern armadillos, and people are to blame. From ancient times and until now, people bring animals in scaly "armor" some problems. Children do not miss the opportunity to use the live ball they got under their feet for playing football, adults hunt them for the bones they use for amulets and flexible shells that go for souvenirs and musical instruments, and farmers kill them for spoiled crops. In addition, a lot of them die under the wheels of cars on the tracks.

In other words, today, spherical armadillos are on the verge of extinction. Even more, in the opinion of the Caatinga Association, if people do not pay attention to the problem and begin to take measures, then, for example, in Brazil, after about ten years, such amazing animals as three-belted armadillos can completely disappear.
