RBTSE kicks off in Russia: the longest cycling race in length and complexity!

On July 24, the Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme (RBTSE) race started in Russia, which became the next large-scale international sports event after the World Cup!

RBTSE - extreme, the longest in length and complexity cyclingrunning throughout Russia is a 25-day marathon that cyclists will have to ride. The race will begin in Moscow and end in Vladivostok on August 17. Participants will ride bicycles along the legendary Trans-Siberian Railway. The longest cycling race in the world consists of 15 stages from 260 to 1372 km long.

The race will go through Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk and will finish on August 17 in Vladivostok. Participants will have to cross 5 climatic and 8 time zones, more than 80 km of climbs and spend more than three weeks in the saddle.

6 athletes from 6 countries from 4 continents submitted applications for participation in the race. At the start will be the winner of Race Across America 2016, silver medalist of RBTSE 2017 Pierre Bischoff (Germany), participant of RBTSE 2016 and 2017 Marcelo Soares (Brazil), the famous Russian road racing cyclist Vladimir Gusev, member of RBTSE 2017 Michael Knudsen (Denmark) as well Patricio Duse (Spain) and Amit Samart (India).
