Enthusiastic insects engineer created a fantastic boat in the form of a water stride

Engineers and scientists often borrow their ingenious ideas from the animal world. And here is another example: the unusual vessel "Proteus", which looks like an insect water strider and glides over the surface of the water. It was created by the American engineer Hugo Conti, who for a long time watched the insects with water strips and was fascinated by the perfection of their movements.

"Proteus" was named in honor of the ancient Greek sea god, who could transform into different creatures. The structure of the vessel really allows it to transform: its cabin can be separated from the rest of Proteus and make independent voyages, and the cabin can also be modified to suit various needs. The vessel has parameters of 30 by 15 meters and moves due to diesel engines. This is a very light and maneuverable vehicle, which, due to its unusual design, is less affected by sea waves, and people suffering from seasickness feel incredibly comfortable on it.

From the video below, you can find out how Hugo Conti designed this unusual ship.
