Scientists have created an artificial leaf capable of photosynthesis

All progressive mankind has been trying for the first decade to solve the problem of excess greenhouse gases on our planet. Scientists offer a wide variety of options, from the massive transition to environmentally friendly fuel to the injection of harmful gases into the deeper layers of the Earth. And now another solution to the global problem of human civilization came from the United States. This time, scientists propose to utilize carbon dioxide using artificial leaves.

Carbon monoxide, which is a by-product of this process, can also be converted into useful raw materials. It can be collected and used for the manufacture of organic alcohols, fuels or other useful substances.

But the very idea of making artificial leaves at a time when millions of hectares of forest stands are annually destroyed on Earth seems not entirely rational. While forest is being burned and cut down in one place, colossal funds are being spent in another to synthesize new materials and develop innovative technologies that can replace green plants. It is much more effective to reduce the rate of deforestation and plant new trees than to produce artificial leaves. Indeed, nothing more perfect than what has already been created by nature, mankind has not yet been able to invent.
