Childhood in Moldova through the eyes of a Swedish photographer

Asa Sjöström, a photographer, documentary and just a traveler, lives in Sweden, and one of her favorite countries, no matter how strange it sounds, is Moldova. For more than 10 years, she regularly comes here to capture the daily life of one of the poorest countries in Europe. Especially often in the lens of her camera are children.

During one of her travels to the republic, Asa paid special attention to the Gradinari family. This amazing family has six children, and she, according to the Swedish photographer, is the perfect embodiment of all the honesty, pride and generosity inherent in the Moldovan people.

The father of the family constantly disappears on earnings in Russia, and the mother tirelessly works on the family farm. And although their children also work and do their best to help their mother, they continue to be children who love to blow soap bubbles in their free time, design home-made videos or dress like a fairy-tale princess.
