Iceland: on the verge of death

We got to Western Fjords, where, according to the guide, there are just millions of dead ends. However, the reality was completely different ...

There were no dead ends!

It turned out that the dead end season ended 5 days ago and they had all left. But I was lucky to see the heels of the last lagging dead end disappearing in the fog. That was a real bummer. However, at that time I did not yet imagine what lies ahead ...

But what awaited us ahead ...

But I was lucky, everything worked out! On the second attempt, we changed the wheel. It should be noted that the rubber on the spare wheel was an order of magnitude larger than the other wheels. But there was nothing to do, there simply were no other options.

When we got to the nearest campsite, we stopped for the night, deciding that there are enough adventures for today. The next morning everyone was dumb on the Internet.

And here we go, we go, and the next instant a strong rattle is heard, then a blow and we see in the side window, as our wheel rolls forward along the side of us.

We were very lucky that we were on a flat road, and not on a serpentine, otherwise irreparable could happen.

Cut off the studs and the wheel just flew off on the go.

And to the nearest city - 100 km in one direction and 120 km - in the other.

That I normally tightened the nuts when changing the wheel, I am completely sure. Not the first time I did it. There is only one thing left - the difference in the diameter of the wheels has affected.

They called the office where they rented a car. They explained for a long time that it had fallen off ... completely! As a result, another car was brought to us from Reykjavik. And this, for a minute, 360 km. They sat all day on the sidelines waiting for a new car. And already at night we were brought Nissan Pathfinder.
