Salvation for all Indians: a mosquito repelling smartphone

Mosquitoes in India are a real natural disaster. And the point is not only that they irritate and itch in the ear. These two-winged insects carry such dangerous diseases as malaria and tropical fever (or dengue fever), so the "communication" with them does not bode well. Especially a lot of mosquitoes in the cities of Central and South India. The number of these insects also increases after the monsoon period, along with the appearance of warm and shallow ponds where nasty creatures live.

Indian authorities are taking serious measures to combat the spread of mosquitoes. In the territories of settlements, poisonous chemicals are sprayed and they even introduce biological control technology using bacteriological preparations, borrowed from Australians. But every year, more than 200 thousand people die from dengue alone, and the current realities of this rapidly developing country are such that in the near future there will hardly be a decrease in the number of mosquitoes. Even residents of multi-million dollar Indian cities with their shopping and office skyscrapers cannot count on this. The outskirts of cities do not keep pace with the developed center, and there still preserved surface sewage systems - a paradise for mosquitoes.

But you can resist bloodsucking insects not only by spraying chemistry and biological methods. Technical progress comes to the rescue. LG was particularly successful in fighting mosquitoes. Previously, air conditioners and televisions were produced under this brand, capable of driving mosquitoes away from the living quarters in which they are installed using ultrasonic devices. But what about on the street? Engineers and then found a way out. In September, at a presentation in New Delhi, the company showed the world a K7i cell phone with a built-in mosquito repellent function. The ultrasound emitter operates at a frequency of 30 kHz, which is harmless to humans. But on mosquitoes and other blood-sucking insects, it acts as a depressant: they become slow and inactive. As a result, mosquitoes prefer to retire to a safe distance. The range of these devices is 1.5 - 2 meters. A stand is attached to the phone, thanks to which it can be used as a stationary device for repelling insects, for example, on a bench in a park or at a retail outlet on the street. All other characteristics of the new phone do not promise anything grandiose, it is a typical smartphone, and its price is quite affordable - about $ 120.

Thus, the inhabitants of India will now be protected not only in their homes, but also on the street. And this protection will be provided not with a thick layer of repellents unsafe for humans, but with a smart cell phone with ultrasound function.
