12 portraits of animals that are on the verge of extinction, made by Tim Flatch

Photographer Tim Flach is known for his emotional photographs of animals. His pictures wonderfully convey the mood and feelings of various representatives of the fauna and make people rethink their attitude to the wild.

Flach’s new book, entitled "Endangered," was created to make readers aware of the influence they have on these animals and to think about what their extinction will mean. Along with the animals themselves, the photographer captured their habitat - amazing natural landscapes.

He spent several days in snow and cold to remove a rare antelope. He swam with sharks and hippos, and also visited zoos to understand what awaits wildlife if it gradually passes into human hands.

The ecosystems in which many of the heroes of the new Flach’s book live are already destroyed - so people made way for cities and farms. Humanity does not realize that, eliminating such habitats, it eliminates the only places in which the most unique creatures on Earth can live.

Here are the most memorable photos from Endangered.
