Free soda fountains - only in Paris

It's about time to write about Beaujolais nouveau, but the news about soda has just arrived.

The authorities of the French capital intend to install columns with free drinking sparkling water in all areas of the city. Parisians have already come up with a beautiful name for this initiative - "Affordable luxury of Paris". Pick up and drink.

The project did not start yesterday. The first swallows (in the sense of a column) with "soda for that" appeared in Paris back in 2010. Now there are eight such fountains, but recently the Paris City Hall decided that at least one such Fontaine La Petillante should function in each of the twenty districts.

Petillant is carbonated, the rest, I think, does not need to be translated.

Water for these columns will be "pumped" by the state-owned company Eau de Paris.

And these fountains will be hammered in the most popular public and tourist places.

The design of new hydraulic structures is also promised to be improved.

Putting this initiative, the city hall pursues different goals. They hope to reduce the amount of waste and wean Parisians and guests of the capital to buy water in plastic bottles. After all, supplying water to such a street column and refueling a gas cylinder is cheaper than recycling plastic waste, the basis of which is just empty bottles. And the authorities hope to help Parisians fight overweight and drink more water while moving around the city. Health care is the right thing. Yes, and people praise the fresh taste.

"People often told me that they’re ready to drink tap water if it’s carbonated, - notes the head of the Paris Water Council Ann le Strath. - Now they have no excuses. ". And the choice of "effervescent water" will also be explained by the habits of the French, "because in France Perrier is not luxury, it is right."

Well, wine ... Well, in Hungary I met as many as two fountains, from which wine flows. Also free. In Rome, too, such a fountain, they say, is. But drinking water is healthier!
