Puma vs. Adidas: A Sad Story Of Two Brothers' Non-Childish Dispute

Adolf Dassler, 1960-1970s

However, during the war period, they joined the Nazi party together, and the company was redesigned to produce military shoes. Some time later, Rudolph was arrested on suspicion of collaborating with the Gestapo, and what was his surprise when, during interrogation, he found out that his brother was the scammer.

After the death of his father in 1948, the confrontation of Rudolph and Adolph reached its climax. Their company split into two independents: Adidas and Ruda. Both continued to produce shoes, but only the first worked under the direction of Adolf, the second - Rudolph. However, after a few months, the older brother decided not to use his name in the name of the company, as the younger did, and renamed Ruda to Puma.

Dassler’s competition with each other prompted them to create more and more high-quality and sneakers, as a result of which their sports shoes soon became legendary.

Unfortunately, until the end of their days, the brothers did not stop the confrontation and did not communicate. Rudolph died of lung cancer at the age of 76, and Adolf died four years later.

However, their families subsequently continued their struggle, so it can be said that the rivalry did not stop even after the death of the famous shoemakers. It all ended when the negligent descendants of Adolf Dassler, who could not divide the company, eventually sold it for nothing.
