Walled up: how many rivers flow near Moscow in special collectors

Once upon a time in Moscow there were many small rivers and streams. But the city grew and developed, and inconvenient waterways interfered with the capital, complicating the development of infrastructure. Therefore, it was decided to permanently hide unnecessary rivers under the ground by placing them in special collectors, and only the Moscow and Yauza rivers remained on the surface. So, let's see what rivers flow under the feet of Muscovites.

Neglinnaya

The collector along which Neglinnaya flows

This is perhaps the most famous underground river in the capital. It is a left tributary of Moscow and has a length of 7.5 kilometers. Neglinnaya is hidden almost into the entire collector and flows into Moscow in two streams: in the region of Moskvoretskaya embankment and Kremlin embankment. Due to the Neglinnaya spill, floods occurred in Moscow more than once, the last of which occurred in the 60s of the last century.

Pine tree

Golyanovsky pond on the river Sosenka

The length of this river, according to various sources, is from 8 to 11 kilometers. Most of its channel is enclosed in a collector. You can see Sosenka in the open form in the place where she flows into the Golyanovsky pond. The Pine flows into the Hapilovka River.

Fever

Open Channel Likhoborka

This is the longest of the small rivers of the capital, which flows into Yauza in the vicinity of the Botanichesky Sad metro station. 17.4 kilometers of Likhoborka (and it totals more than 30 kilometers) flows along the underground channel in the collector. The open channel of Likhobrodka can be observed in the Joy Park.

Hapilovka

Yauza River, mouth of Hapilovka

The entire channel of Khapilovka is enclosed in a collector, and it is impossible to see this river with a length of about 3 kilometers in open form. Hapilovka flows into Yauza in the area of Preobrazhenskaya Embankment.

Movie

Mazilovsky Pond on the Filka River

This river has a length of about 10 kilometers and is a right tributary of the Moscow river. The film is almost completely enclosed in the collector and flows into Moscow in the region of the Western River Port. You can look at this river in the area of the Pionerskaya metro station, where it forms the Mazilovsky Pond.

Cockroach

Tarakanovka River

Another river, which for almost its entire length of 8 kilometers is enclosed in an underground collector, Tarakanovka. This river flows into Moscow not far from the 2nd Silicate passage, and the open section of the river runs in the vicinity of the Khoroshevsky and Zvenigorodsky Highways.

Beggar

Beggar River

The length of this influx of Moscow is more than 10 kilometers. Like many small rivers of the capital, the Beggar is almost entirely enclosed in a collector. The open riverbed can be observed near the Perovo station.

These are the largest of the underground rivers. More than 50 rivers and streams enclosed in underground reservoirs flow under the feet of Muscovites.
