She quit her job and went with the cat around the world on a sailing boat.

34-year-old Liz Clark is a self-proclaimed "pirate" sailing around the world since 2006. 10 years ago, she quit her job as a bartender in San Diego (California) and received a Cal 40 sailing boat, provided that she would document her adventures around the world. In 2013, the “captain Lizzie” was joined by a 6-month-old kitten, whom she saved by taking on board.

“She's used to living surrounded by water,” Clark tells of her cat. An animal named Amelia loves fishing from a boat, relaxing on the beaches and hiking. "She often has to get out of the cat's comfort zone. But now, I think, she understands that I will keep her safe and in the end she will get a lot of pleasure. She makes my yacht more like a house."

Clark currently travels along the west coast of Mexico and Central America, as well as the southern Pacific Ocean.

The wild kitten was skinny and hungry, but Clark saw her as a "real lioness."

Amelia also loves hiking with Clark.

"It was scary to leave this feeling of safety and security with friends and family.".

"I didn’t know if I could manage such a big boat and deal with everything that happens around during the trip.".

"But I knew that I had to try, otherwise I will always regret it".

"I didn’t know how I could make money, and I’m not from a rich family, as many people think".

"I sleep on the pool mat under the stars".

"But I feel rich when I look at this night sky, breathe the fresh ocean air and jump into the sea every morning".

"She makes my yacht more like a house. "
