Under the dome: a house was created in Stockholm, which allows saving on heating

In a temperate climate, the main expenses for the maintenance of a country house in the winter are accounted for maintaining an acceptable living temperature in the room. Fleeing from the cold, you can carefully insulate the structure, put a powerful heating device or accustom your body to enjoy low temperatures by hardening. And you can follow the example of the Swedish family, which, surrounding its house with a glass shell, created a tropical paradise in the suburbs of Stockholm.

Spouses Maria Granmar and Charles Sachilotto are the owners of a unique house that uses solar energy to maintain the desired indoor temperature. But this is not solar panels, but the usual "greenhouse effect", so not beloved by many fighters with global warming. The project of a unique coating for an already built house was developed by the famous Swedish architect Bengt Varne, who at that time already had experience in the construction of such energy-efficient buildings.

Amazing house in a suburb of Stockholm

The idea itself is not so new. In fact, this is a greenhouse, only a very large size, sufficient to accommodate a residential building. Solar heat, penetrating through the glass shell, heats the air between the house and the glass, but dissipates into the surrounding space much more slowly. Particularly noticeable is the effect of the glass coating in sunny frosty weather. According to the couple, when the ambient temperature reaches minus 20 degrees, they have on the terrace it is equal to plus 2 degrees. In the glazed area, Maria and Charles successfully grow throughout the year not only greens, cucumbers and tomatoes, but also tropical citrus trees. And thanks to this design, they were able to reduce the cost of heating their home by 50% compared with the period when their house was not surrounded by a glass dome.

Of course, the question arises, but what about the summer? In winter and in the off-season, a transparent shell is very useful, but in the summer there is a risk of being in the heat and stuffiness. But in this Swedish house for this case there are dense blinds on the roof and a ventilation system that helps to avoid such troubles in the warm season.

In the process of turning their home into an eco-house, the Swedish family was not limited to creating a glass dome. A unique rainwater collection system was designed in the house for use in household purposes. Precipitation tanks are located in a separate room on the ground floor, from where they are distributed, if necessary, throughout the house.

Such technologies are gaining more and more popularity in the West, especially in the Scandinavian countries. The desire of all progressive mankind to protect the environment in the concept of a glass house is embodied through saving fuel and water resources, as well as reducing emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere.

And this is a house in Norway, created on the same principle

Undoubtedly, such a resource-saving technology for building country houses will soon find its fans in Russia. Residents of one of the most northern countries of the world will also enjoy the tropical paradise near the house, while frost is rampant outside. Of course, this option is not suitable for the inhabitants of our country living in the Arctic Circle or near it: sunlight in winter is not enough there. But the rest of the territory is quite suitable for creating an energy-saving glass dome around the house or at least around the most efficient from the point of view of heat storage, the south side of the building.
